top 5 budget-friendly reception areas

I was having a conversation with a friend who is also preparing for a wedding. one of her concerns too is, like everybody else, the budget. I for one, would never shell out 50k++ just for the venue. I mean, I'd rather have it in a hotel! so i started scouting for reception venues under 20k. here are some I gathered:

1) Artist's Pavillion of makati parks and garden, Makati

- Our very own reception venue! learned about this from a previous couple at w@w.

Price : 8k for 4 hours for non-makati residents, 6k if you are a makati resident (what a steal!).

Pros: ample area for 150 guests, airconditioned, glass walls, really nice parking for guests.

Cons : You have to pay full payment, means no reservation fee. have to get the next slot if you wish for more time. only 1 hour setup time for caterer.

2) Wack-Wack Banquet A+B, Mandaluyong

Price : See this link : http://www.wackwack.com/reservations.html

Pros - spacious, accessible

Cons - open to only 2 caterers: VS&F and The Plaza

3) North Forbes Pavillion, Makati

Price : 16k

Pros - situated in an upscale area so gatecrashers are of course, not a problem. also easy to style

Cons - needs a sponsorship from a resident of the subdivision

4)Fr. Horran Hall, Mt. carmel, Quezon City

Price : 15k

Pros - Was able to attend a wedding last 2006. Really nice venue, airconditioned. Just beside Mt. Carmel so it will be no hassle to your guests to drive far for the reception

Cons - so many corkages & limitations when trying to have unaccredited caterers do the catering.

5) BA Lepanto, along Paseo de Roxas Makati

Price : 15k as of Early 2008

Pros : Located around Makati so it's easy to locate. When spruced up, looks like a venue in a hotel

Cons : the smell of the place is quite old.
